September 6 - from Heidelberg GM to Interlaken SW

We left Heidelberg in the morning, heading to Black Forest and ended up at Titisee.  The meaning of see is “lake” in German.   Titisee is in the southern part of Black Forest and is one of the most famous places for tourists in Black Forest.  First we stopped by the famous Drubba, a Cuckoo Clocks Shop.  It has a cuckoo clock factory down stair for demonstrating how to make cuckoo clock.

After the demo, we got some free time to shop and have lunch in the Titisee area.  Some of us enjoyed our lunch next to the lake.

Then we went to Schaffhausen to visit the famous Rhine Falls. The beautiful Rhine, Rhine Falls and the unique historical charm of the medieval towns of Schaffhausen are a treat for us.  There is a boat ride, which can take you up to the Rhine falls, and there is an observation deck right on top of the fall.  However we did not have enough time to do either, therefore we will just enjoy the magnificent view of the fall from this side of Rhine near the Worth Castle.

Later, we arrived Interlaken and checked into Chalet Oberland in the center of Interlaken. Interlaken is located between Lake Brienz to the east and Lake Thun to the west in the area called Bodeli. The town takes its name from its geographical position between the lakes (in Latin inter lacus). Interlaken is one of the oldest tourist resorts in Switzerland, and it remains one of the popular. This town offers tourists a peaceful base form which to explore the surrounding areas such as Jungfrau.

Our hotel sits by the mountain and located next to the main street of Interlaken.  We took an easy walk to dinner and then got coupons for exchanging Rolex spoon as souvenirs.  Then we just strolled slowly to see the town.

There is a casino at the end of the main street.  Roger, Lisa and John did venture out and won some money from the casino.
